Ah yes, the great British summer. Never has there been a more perfect time to buy yourself a… raincoat!? Look, we’ve lived here long enough now to know that sunshine is but a fleeting moment that is rarely worth savouring. Save yourself some bother and prepare for the worst as, honey, you’ve got a big storm coming. Summer sun? Bitch, where?
Fear not, we’ve got you covered with our range of raincoats from Rains. The thing about these raincoats is that they are perfect for those summer showers. Y’know, those humid and hot days that still give you a downpour? There’s no need to bring out those winter warming coats and jackets just yet. These lightweight raincoats give you the needed protection against the elements without weighing you down and causing things to get that bit too sweaty. Not only that, and as a colour enthusiast this is the most exciting part, they also come in a variety of colours that will keep things fresh throughout the summer. It’s amazing what a lush shade of pastel can do for one’s mood, no? I’m glad you agree. See, rain doesn’t need to be all doom and gloom.
I’ve chosen my favourite pieces from Rains collection to see you three our British summer and, let’s face it, Autumn, Winter and Spring too. Treat yourselves to what is, sadly, a wardrobe essential.
Simple, sleek, buttoned down and hooded, the jacket and long jacket are my two favourites due to the variety of colours to choose. However, as stated above, this is the summer season and pastels could not be more in. The lemon and ice shades in particular are fresh to death and my colours of choice. The colours can also be used effortlessly in the monochrome trend that pastels lend themselves so well to or failing that, really pop with a black trou. Make your choice based on your preference of length and you’re good to go.
Speaking of monochrome, it perhaps works most effectively when utilising black. This black poncho is practical, elegant and offers a little something different than your regular raincoat. The cape like nature will have you feeling like Batman on a stormy Gotham night. Put it with a pair of black trousers and shoes and you have a dramatic silhouette ready to go.
A special mention must go to this bold primary yellow variation due to the sheer nostalgia it brings. As a child of the 90’s and a rabid X-men fan to this day, there are no guesses as to why; boys, we can fulfil our own Jubilee fantasy. An X-Man who is as much style icon today as she was in the 90s which can be attributed to her signature yellow raincoat. Bias, I know, but if you’ll excuse me I’m off to don my yellow raincoat and live my mutant truth.
